Andrew Leonards

Andrew Leonards is responsible for leading business development activities for propeller systems at Dowty, a GE Aerospace company. Dowty is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of electronically-controlled, composite propeller systems, focused on pioneering propeller technologies for sustainable regional aircraft. Andrew is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 23 years’ experience of propeller, flight control and landing gear systems. He has a comprehensive knowledge of the challenges faced by airframers and propulsion system providers and is passionate about helping the industry reach its net zero commitments.

Propellers continue to be the most appropriate means to generate thrust for aircraft powerplant on a wide range of sustainable regional and sub-regional configurations. This session will explore what is important in propeller system design and construction, and how the evolving needs of the industry, particularly around more sustainable powerplant options, can be met with new digital technologies and capabilities.
